I’ve been sending items to the homeless to Barbados since the back end of the pandemic in 2021. It started when my cousin lost her job during lockdown and things were hard for her, so I sent her a barrel of food and clothes. At the same time I reached out to the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness (BAEH) by sending them an email, asking if they needed any help.
After various emails, I sent 2 big boxes of food and clothes in November 2021 to them to which they were very appreciative.
Before I sent the boxes, I sent an email to the Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley, asking if all cost can be waived, after all it’s all going to a good cause. I received an email from the BAEH saying all delivery costs had been waived, followed by a confirmatory email from the Prime Minister’s office
After 3 years the donations of items, and not only has it helped the homeless, it has also helped the underprivileged children and their families and the needy. After support from organisations in Barbados the “Dave’s Foundation” was born.
